Diet soda makes you fat
Many people think that diet soda is something they can use to lose weight while still enjoying something they don't want to give up. When confronted about this choice most people retort, "it's not as bad as regular soda so it has to be good for me." They couldn't be more wrong.
Dave Ward found a great video which explains exactly how diet soda makes you gain weight and slows your metabolism.
The entire video is very informative and if you want to skip straight to the diet soda specific part fast forward to 6:30 in the video.
The short version
Our bodies maintain a balanced acid level and diet soda increases your body's acidity. With too much acid and not enough alkaline our bodies need to find that balance again. Exactly how does the body neutralize itself? There are several ways but here are a couple:
- increase acidity of urine
- higher respiration (faster breathing)
- lowered metabolism
Do yourself and your family a favour, watch the video and forward it to your friends who think diet soda is the answer.
