Doing it again: P90X is better the second time
Fitness is addictive for me. When I get in shape, I want to stay in shape. Not too long ago, I finished P90X and I feel great! I'm not resting on my laurels though; I'm going back for more and this time I'm doubling it.
What do you mean double P90X?
In case you're unfamiliar with P90X, it has three variations—lean, classic, and double. These variations are available to you so that you can tailor the program to fit your specific needs.
Lean is for anyone looking to lose the fat and stay trim. The lean program focuses more on cardio and less on the muscle-building aspects of P90X. There's still some weight lifting involved though.
Classic is—what I would guess—the most popular variant used by P90X customers. It evenly blends muscle-building exercises with cardio workouts and that's a great way to start.
Double is probably the least-used variation of P90X but it's likely to be the most effective. If you want drastic results, this is the program to choose. By doubling the amount of cardio and maintaining the muscle-building, this variation really gets the sweat flowing.
My goals
During my first round of P90X, I used the Classic variation. I got some great results from it. I reached some—but not all—of the goals I set for myself.
For this round, I’ve got some new and much more challenging goals.
- Get body fat down to 5%
- Increase muscle mass in my chest and arms
- Have better control over diet
- Get through a full P90X workout doing completely unassisted pull ups
There is no point in setting goals I’ll easily reach because I want make sure to always push myself. The hardest goals this time around will be the pull ups and having self-control when eating. I currently struggle with pull ups and need a fair amount of assistance. Eating is always a problem for me as well because there are a lot of unhealthy foods I enjoy.
My second round with P90X began February 9, 2009. This blog will continue being a way for me to keep myself accountable and monitor my progress. I have a few ideas on how to track my diet and will be adding them to this site as time permits.
